Privacy policy

Data stored on your device

Your typing progress, per-key accuracy history, streak, preferences (theme, layout, sound), and daily goals are stored in your browser's localStorage under the keypath.prefs.v1 and related keys. This data never leaves your device unless you create an account.

Clearing your browser storage for this site erases all of it permanently.

Optional accounts and the leaderboard

Accounts are optional. The app works fully without one. If you create one, we store:

• Your email address, used for sign-in and nothing else.
• A display name of your choosing, shown publicly on the weekly leaderboard.
• Your typing scores (net WPM, accuracy, timestamp) so progress syncs across devices.

Submitting a score to the weekly leaderboard publishes your display name and score publicly. Choose a pseudonym if you would rather not be identified. We do not sell or share account data with third parties.

To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the address below.

Analytics

We use a self-hosted Umami instance to count page views and referrers. Umami is cookie-free and does not collect or store personal data or cross-site identifiers.

Advertising and cookies

This site is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are shown a consent prompt before any personalised advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time via the privacy settings link in that prompt.

Children

Typing Coach is suitable for learners of all ages, but we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. Accounts are optional and no personal data is required to use the trainer. Ads served to visitors identified as children are non-personalised.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you, and may object to processing. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
